CollectPlus x Stylist Live | Lizzy Hadfield

Lizzy Hadfield of Shot From The Street is back on the blog for part two of our Autumn edit series to discuss all things fashion and will be on our stand, right next to the catwalk, with her very own edit. So if you fancy meeting Lizzy and seeing her edit, bag yourself a ticket and head down to the show.

Exciting times lie ahead for CollectPlus as we are partnering with Stylist Live, the festival of inspiration which will be bringing everything readers love about Stylist magazine to life across three action-packed days of experts, interviews, comedy, food, beauty and fashion exclusives.

“Autumn and Winter are always my favourite seasons for styling. The gorgeous knitwear, luxurious fabrics, statement coats, I love it all! Unfortunately, the cold months do tend to drag out a little, so the pieces we pick for autumn and winter are going to be part of our daily wardrobe for a fair few months – hence why making the right choices is so important. I always think about a capsule wardrobe, a good foundation of key pieces they I can build upon here and there.

There are some items I come to every year; a cashmere high neck jumper, nothing hangs off the body like cashmere so it’s well worth the investment. A wool coat, the higher the wool percentage the better, I have ones I wear year after year and never tire of. Some great denim, I always focus my denim search on the high street and look for a really good thick denim that keeps a structure. This season I am adding a few new pieces onto the essentials list too. A cardigan is going to be a major styling piece for me. To wear done up tucked into your jeans, it can be taken day to night by just unbuttoning a couple of buttons. Also to layer over your favourite white t-shirt and wear undone with a blazer thrown on over the top (preferably a checked one). It’s so effortless but looks amazing, and is a great way to keep wearing lighter weight jackets for a little longer.

As for coats, there is so much choice out there it can be hugely overwhelming. A wool coat always gets my vote, and this season I am focusing on shorter lengths rather than my usual mid-calf length choice. There is something very Parisian about a beautifully structured short coat, and it’s a length that suits all heights too. Always size up one or two sizes so you can fit your knits under there too!

Boots are possibly my all time favourite style of footwear, especially ones with a mid heel. They’re the ultimate day to night style of shoe, and I am really drawn to statement pairs this season. Some bright red boots are way more versatile than you could ever imagine, especially if you’re into denim as much as I am – red with a blue wash denim is a really great combination. But of course nothing compares to a black ankle boot, I always look for leather so they’re as durable as possible as I know how much I end up wearing them!

Outfits aside, we all need some extra TLC throughout these dark months. No Summer glow and sun kissed skin anymore, so I like to take things up a notch with my skincare. My go-to mask is the Fresh Vibrancy Boosting mask which really does what it says on the tin, and gives you the most amazing glow. I also find that a great nude lip can brighten up your face so much. Velvet Teddy by Mac is my all time favourite, and it looks different on every skin tone, but is flattering to everyone. I always get a compliment when I wear it!”
