“Christmas Day is fast approaching and I’m panicking.  I’m not even sure where we are spending Christmas, have barely started my shopping and haven’t even begun to think about the food.  Normally I am super organised, but the only thing I have sorted this year is my Christmas Day makeup.

Now we usually spend Christmas with just the two of us so I don’t need to impress anyone or go all out glam. However, we are supposed to be spending the Christmas period at a country mansion so this year I feel like I need to make a little bit more of an effort.  However, I still don’t want to spend hours trying to make myself look presentable, so I wanted something quick and easy. I want effortless Christmas Day makeup.

For my base, I like to keep it nice and light, but still looking flawless.  If I’m going to be stood over a cooker preparing a feast, I don’t want to feel like my face is absolutely caked in foundation.  The Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter (£30 at John Lewis) is a must if you like a radiant complexion.  It’s a complexion booster that makes you looks lit from within and I use it every day.  When it comes to foundation, I’m all about lightweight formulas and the NARS Sheer Glow (£28.05 at John Lewis) is one of my favourites.  It is hydrating, softening and adds luminance to your face.  In keeping with the radiant base, for the under eyes you can’t go wrong with YSL Touche Eclat (£21.67 at John Lewis).  From hiding dark shadows to brightening the eye area, this is a must have.  Finally, to set it all in place, the Charlotte Tilbury Genius Loose Powder (£33 at John Lewis) is perfect. Your makeup is set, your skin looks smoother, shine is reduced and your skin feels amazing.  It’s well worth investing in.

The main feature of my Christmas Day makeup is a bold lip, so I wanted to keep my eyes relatively simple.  I started with a neutral palette using Tom Ford Nude Dip (£68 at John Lewis).  I created a simple bronzed smokey eye using the shadows, making sure to keep it quite light and well blended.  Then to add a bit more drama, I used the Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in Amber Haze (£19 at John Lewis) over the lids, smudging it out as I went along.  I love the bronzed tones this was creating, and then I added a little bit of the Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerise in Jean (£22 at John Lewis) to slightly brighten up the lids and the inner corner.  Don’t be scared of cream shadows, they are easier to work with than you think.  To finish the eyes, I used the Tom Ford Extreme Mascara (£38 at John Lewis) as it always makes my lashes look long and thick without clumping or flaking.

As I am ridiculously pale, I wanted to add warmth to my cheeks.  I don’t contour, but I do love a bit of bronzer to gently sculpt my cheekbones and just warm my face up a little and my go to is the classic that is NARS Laguna (£26.50 at John Lewis), you just can’t go wrong with it.  I wanted to use a little bit of blusher, but didn’t want something too intense, and Charlotte Tilbury Ecstasy (£30 at John Lewis) was the perfect choice as it adds a gentle flush of colour to the cheeks.  For highlight, I wanted something warm and subtle as I’m saving the disco ball look for New Year’s Eve, so I opted for Bobbi Brown Sunset Glow (£32.40 at John Lewis) as it is nice and warm, but still adds a pretty radiance to the cheekbones.

The main part of this look was the lips.  Is it even Christmas if you don’t pull out your brightest red?  I think not. I lined and filled my lips with the Charlotte Rose Lip Cheat in Savage Rose (£16 at John Lewis).  It is a warm red that helps to keep your lipstick in place and offsets any cooler tones in the lipstick.  Then to finish, again it’s Charlotte Tilbury (not sorry) and I went for Carina’s Love (£24 at John Lewis) as to me it is the perfect red.  It is nice and bright, and even though it is a matte, it is still nice and creamy, and thanks to the Lip Cheat, it stays on all day.

The whole look took less than 20 minutes, leaving you with plenty of time to open your presents, eat all the food and hide from your mother-in-law.

Merry Christmas!”
