Lizzy Hadfield of Shot From The Street is best known for nailing it when it comes to basics. Whether it’s dressing up a plain t-shirt or styling a blazer for multiple different occasions, Lizzy just knows exactly how to do it. That’s why we caught up with her to find out about her favourite white shirts on the high street right now and exactly how she’d style them.
5 White Shirts and 5 Ways To Style Them
Everyone needs a white shirt in their wardrobe. From workwear, to classic chic, even as a beach coverup, they are one of the most versatile pieces out there. I have rounded up five that I love and five different ways to style them.
1) Behind the desk
Of course a white shirt is a key workwear piece. I always avoid anything fitted and prefer something oversized with a high percentage of cotton so it will be nice and crisp. It makes an amazing silhouette when tucked into something when the shirt can really hold it’s shape! Worn with high waisted tailored trousers, it is such a simple combination that works so well due to the effortless proportions.

2) Out for drinks
For an evening look opt for a plunging neckline and a material with less cotton in, it makes the shirt more flowing and sexy rather than boxy and androgynous. A piece like this really works with anything, but in this heatwave I would opt for a mini skirt and some classic two strap sandals for this look. Some gold eye shadow and gold jewellery will finish it off perfectly.

3) Casual Chic
A white shirt is always such a classic and chic piece. This Mango one with the huge collar has the right amount of extra detailing to keep it interesting, meaning you can keep the rest of your styling really simple to nail effortless chic. Opt for some off white straight leg jeans and some classic loafers. I love all white outfits and the key is to not worry about the tones matching, it breaks it up so well when you have different shades of white and cream. It’s such a timeless look which look amazing on everyone!

4) On The Beach
One of my biggest packing tips for beach or poolside holidays is to take lots of shirts. Wear them on the first few days then repurpose as a cover up with your bikini through the rest of the week. This oversized linen one is perfect for that. Wear with some shorts and heels on the first night, and then over a bikini with some amazing statement sunglasses later on in the week. It’s the perfect way to stay stylish (and sun burn free) when you’re by the pool!

5) Light Layers
A white shirt doesn’t always have to be traditional. I love this denim one which can be worn as a shirt on its own, or as a light jacket – perfect for Summer evenings. I would pair this with a white tank top so those tortoiseshell buttons stand out, with my favourite denim cut offs. Equally it would be amazing worn buttoned up with some black trousers and lots of gold jewellery. Definitely a piece to buy now that will transition really well into Autumn.
