High summer fashion is starting to hit the shops, bringing with it a host of heatwave ready pieces that you’ll want to have on standby for when temperatures rise. Kristabel Plummer of I Want You To Know has been checking out the goods.
“Does anyone else panic about their wardrobes when the temperatures increase? High Summer in the UK can be a bit of a fleeting season. One minute you could be sunning yourself in the park in a flowy little dress before battling constant rain the week after.
Fortunately it looks like we’ll be blessed with some decent weather for the foreseeable future and my approach is to amp up the colour, pattern and prints. There’s something about all that sunshine that makes me braver when it comes to style and more willing to try out trends I’ve had my eye on.
High summer fashion – Kristabel’s picks
If you fancy deviating from your usual muted tones, then here’s my selection of bold High Street pieces that are the perfect starting point.
River Island Black Embroidered Bell Sleeve Smock top
Need to look like you’ve made an effort but you’re running late? An embroidered top is a no-brainer. I tend to go for smock or peplum styles as it gives me a bit more shape in the hip department, but there’s plenty of variation all over the High Street. This top from River Island has lots of intricate detail all over and looks far more expensive than it is (plus it comes in petite and plus sizes). Wear with shorts on holiday or jeans if it’s a bit chilly. Buy here >>
ASOS Off Shoulder Midi Sundress in Natural Fibre
Meet the dress that screams Summer. ASOS have plenty of off-the-shoulder midis in this structured woven fabric (the lilac would be great for a wedding) but this bold colourway has to be my favourite. It’s perfect if you want to nip things in at the waist and the pockets are a useful addition. You can also adjust the ruffle to hide any bra straps, if needs be – a nice high summer fashion touch we’d love to see more of. Buy here >>
Warehouse Palm Print Beach Playsuit
This tropical Warehouse playsuit is my default option for any 30 degree days. They’ve become one of my favourite places to shop of late, thanks to their mix of eye-catching prints and practical designs. Most playsuits can be a little flimsy, however this one has an elasticated waist and ties at the front, which is handy if you’re in between sizes. Perfect for a day at the beach or cycling around the park. Buy here >>
See how I’m keeping things colourful this Summer on my own blog and fingers crossed the weather stays nice!
