February can be quite a strange time of the year as Christmas seems like forever ago but for our bank balance it seems like yesterday. We’re torn between dressing for blizzards and spending our last pounds on all of the beautiful Spring/Summer pieces we’re starting to see cropping up from all our favourite retailers.
For this post I have pulled together 8 items, each under £35 from Very to revamp your wardrobe at this tricky time of year with a couple of bits to get us excited for the seasons ahead. I click & collected all of these to my local CollectPlus Point which was really easy as I didn’t have to wait in for my delivery and could pick it up at a time that was convenient for me.
There’s no hiding the fact that animal print midis and animal prints in general have been huge for the past few months and still are. The skirt I have featured here is from Wallis on Very (£32). It has a lovely button down detail that comes to just below the knee and goes into a loose slit giving it a real feminine feel. I paired this with a simple grey jumper (£32) to let the skirt do the talking.
I’ve added a teal crossbody bag from Accessorize on Very (£25) and paired it with black boots to compliment the print. These could soon be swapped out for sandals when the warm weather finally arrives! Until then this outfit is perfect for layering up and would work well with a longline coat, trench or even an oversized blazer for a more chic feel. You could also pair it with a belt bag if you wanted to hit another trend level.
Revamp your smart-wear/work wear.
I think mixing up the glam side to your wardrobe at this time of the year is a fabulous way of boosting morale that otherwise might be getting lost in the mists of dark days and cold weather. Why not stride into the office feeling like a new woman or freshen up your date night look? A selection of new smart additions to your wardrobe can really bring out the best in you, along with helping you quit the circuit of wearing the same old outfit you’ve worn more or less day in day out for the past 6 months because ‘you know it works’. (Take it from me I’ve done this many times before). It’s very easy to become stuck in a ‘safe zone’, so use fashion to give yourself that extra confidence and motivation you need to take on whatever comes your way through the new year.
For my revamped formal look, I have chosen some pieces from Miss Selfridge stocked on Very. Firstly, we have some beautiful rust coloured paper bag trousers (£35), I love swapping out my jeans for trousers at the moment as they instantly give you a smart look with added comfort.
I paired them with this Victorian style blouse (£35) which give off a very feminine professional look. This top is quite sheer but with a cami underneath it’ll be perfect for work. This is a look that could definitely take you from the office to date night if your busy schedule doesn’t have time for an outfit change. To give this outfit even more of a chic feel I have opted for some snake print slingbacks (£32), again from the Miss Selfridge section on Very. Not only is this print super on trend but the mid-height elevation is just what this outfit needs with it still being wearable for day to day life.
I wasn’t lying when I said print is huge at the moment and I have seen jumpers of this style sell out in days. This jumper (£21) is quite a statement but it’s an amazing trend led piece to vamp up your casual outfits if you’re getting a bit bored of the more traditional styles.
A jumper like this is a great item to have when you need an on-the-go ‘leaving the house in under fifteen minutes’ kind of outfit as it would look perfect with a pair of jeans or a denim skirt, like the one I have featured here (£25). A silk midi and coat would also look gorgeous for more chilly days.
The downside to knitwear is that that some times the fabrics can be quite harsh on the skin but the feel of this is actually very soft with a smooth finish and the high neck line is perfect for keeping those winter drafts at bay!
