New Season Denim With Samio

Denim remains a key wardrobe staple for many of us all year round, and with more styles than ever available to choose from, it’s hard not to find a cut and fit that doesn’t take your fancy. We asked Samio to give us her top denim tips for autumn 2018.

If ever there were a perfect time to experiment with denim, it’s now. From Mom jeans, to 70s flares, there definitively seems to be a real ‘anything goes’ situation going on when it comes to denim at the moment. So in this blog post I’m going to round up a few of my personal favourite styles for this season.

The 70s is officially back and it’s all about flared denim! Now I’ll admit, flares can seem a little scary at first. I too was initially dubious of flares and wasn’t sure how long this trend would stick around, but after easing myself in with my first pair of flared denim last summer, this year I’ve become a fully fledged flare convert, and I can’t get enough of them!

This season flares are everywhere and if wide flares are a bit too bold for you, why not go for the subtler option of a kick flare. I personally love this style and particularly so as we move into autumn/winter, as I feel they work perfectly with boots. I’m in love with this black pair from Warehouse via ASOS (£32). The fit is perfect and the crop and fit looks great worn with some statement boots like these patent Bershka boots, also from ASOS (£39.99).

Flared jeans I’m loving right now:

ASOS Egerton Rigid Cropped Jeans £32 at ASOS

Straight Leg

Straight leg jeans have been a dominate staple in the everyday wardrobe for a while now. They are the ultimate ‘wear with anything’ jean and when you find the perfect fit you’ve likely found your ‘wear on repeat’ jeans. Straight leg jeans have a sort of effortless cool which are great for day to day dressing, but can be dressed up so easily with heels and a blazer, this one is £55 at ASOS – like I said, effortless and cool.

I personally like a cropped fit when it comes to straight leg jeans and I love this pair I found from Cheap Monday via ASOS (£55). Again they work great with boots for autumn/winter and will work with just about anything in your wardrobe.

Some straight leg denim styles that are on my wish-list are:

High Waist Ankle Straight Jeans £45 at M&S

Paige Hoxton Straight Leg Cropped Jeans £245 at John Lewis

Warehouse Straight Mid Rise Jeans £49 at John Lewis

Skinny Jeans

Whilst recently other more relaxed styles may have took the forefront when it comes to denim, skinny jeans still remain the ‘have to have’ denim in your wardrobe. I’ll admit I’ve neglected my skinnies a little bit as of late, however as we move into the colder months, I’m already preparing to give them a revival and I can’t wait to wear them with a killer pair of over the knee boots.

Again, skinny jeans are the all rounder, they can be worn with pretty much anything and if you get a super stretchy pair, then it’s comfort galore too. I personally can not go without a black pair of skinny jeans in my wardrobe, as I know they are something I’ll continue to pull out year after year. Here I’ve also rounded up a few of my favourites that are available online now.
My favourite skinny jeans are:
Black High Waisted Harper Skinny Jeans £35 at River Island
Mid Blue Denim Molly Ripped Jeans £42 at River Island
Plus Blue Molly Ripped Hem Super Skinny Jeggings £40 at River Island

Wide Leg

Similar to the flares but with an ever wider fit on the leg, wide leg jeans are very much in and by the looks of it they are here to stick around for a while longer. This is another style I’ve been loving recently as I find them to be really flattery and comfortable. An added bonus with this style as we move into winter is, you can layer up underneath. Oh yeah! This style is loose enough that you can even wear a pair of leggings underneath on those super chilly days, which is what I’ll be doing with mine, as I love to layer up when it gets cold!

Some of the best wide leg jeans that have caught my eye are:
Stradivarius Wide Leg Jean With Contrast Stitch £29.99 at ASOS
Madewell Wide Leg Crop Jeans £128 at John Lewis
Mango Wide Leg Clean Wash Jeans £16 at ASOS

Weekday Ace Wide Leg Jeans £40 at ASOS
Monki Wide Leg Jeans in Rust £20 at ASOS
