With some warm weather on the horizon, we thought it was time we got on the hunt for some of the best summer pieces out there that will have you looking and feeling on trend and oh-so chic. To find them, we asked fashion blogger Holly Murphy to have a look for pieces you can Click & Collect to a CollectPlus Point nearby.
It’s safe to say, she’s chosen some amazing, versatile numbers that will carry you right through summer, and even into the transitional period.
“So we’re on the approach to the sunny season, I say the approach because we’re still facing rather temperamental weather and frequent downpours. It’s not quite time to pack away all of the knitwear and long tops just yet and I wouldn’t recommend packing away your last pair of jeans either. (I say this from the bottom of my heart having been absolutely drenched in a midi skirt 2 hours prior to writing this post)
However, starting to think about some key summer essentials should definitely be on your to-do list, because the sun rays will be upon us before we know it. I have pulled together some of my top picks and key essentials for summer that are under £30 from a selection of retailers that use the seamless CollectPlus Click & Collect service.
We’ll start with tops and work our way down. Summer tops have always been exciting to me so many options and so many pretty details that you don’t have to hide under layers of coats. Two examples I have shown in this post are a printed tee (£12 at ASOS) and a little off the shoulder cami (£18 at Very). Both of these examples come in a whole array of formats so I kept these pretty simple to fit the needs of everyone reading this post but being more adventurous is totally an option.
A little off the shoulder cami is a must-have in your wardrobe especially if you need a top to go with a whole array of outfits. A top like this could be dressed down to as simple as denim shorts and sliders or elevated with a long midi skirt and a court shoe and pretty much everything in between. As for the printed tee, a trend that has been huge forever, they might not be for everyone but sure do make the perfect partner for light trousers and slip skirts with trainers. Whether you want a cute picture or a sassy slogan there is a printed top out there for everyone.
Speaking of trousers I couldn’t write a summer essentials post without featuring a pair of lightweight cotton-look trousers (£24.99 at New Look). These are such a go-to for me in Summer for days where I don’t want my legs out but also can’t face wearing tight jeans. The belt detail on the front gives them a great bit of shape and gives enough structure to still look put together but whilst still feeling super comfortable.
If trousers aren’t your thing I found a super cute skirt option on ASOS (£22), A-line, pleats, buttons and a tie waist… what more could you want from a skirt? A lovely natural colour to meet the must-have safari trend? Well yes, it has that too. I paired the skirt with this gorgeous square neck top that has the most beautiful unique lace detail over the shoulders that lifts the outfit a bit and makes it super pretty and feminine. I would pair this look with a chunky style shoe maybe an espadrille, Superga trainer or flatform sliders to really compliment the A-line shape it offers.
If short A-line skirts aren’t quite up your street either maybe a beautiful floral wrap maxi is? This one is from Very (£28) and is just so pretty! It sits on the waist and fastens with two buttons one on the right followed by one on the left creating the effortless wrap over style. This skirt works so perfectly with the white cami I mentioned earlier for an everyday out and about look.
Lastly, I have featured a jumpsuit in an on-trend pastel color (£28 at ASOS). If you’re not a fan of having your legs out or you want an outfit you can put on without a thought, and look instantly put together, then this is the one. You could also add a belt for more structure or leave it for a more casual comfy look. Maybe even a denim jacket over the top for slightly cooler days.
As I said before all of the items I featured in this post are from retailers that offer the CollectPlus Click & Collect service. This is a service I personally find so handy. As a blogger I spend my life traveling to and from London for work and I’m very often unable to take parcels in. With deliveries being a big part of my job if I don’t have them on time I can very easily end up being late for key deadlines and client requirements, so having the comfort of knowing my parcels are going to be ready and waiting for me at my local CollectPlus Point means I can travel happily and can pick them up at a time that suits me.
