Payday Treats: the autumn edit

Who can believe that it’s nearly October already? The days are getting shorter, mornings getting colder and our wardrobes are in major need of some TLC. But fear not, we’ve pulled together some essential payday treats which will have you styled out for Autumn with the season’s hottest trends.

This payday you should be focusing on investing key pieces for the colder months. We’re talking chunky knickwear, layering and a pop of colour.

Jumpers

Statement knitwear is a wardrobe staple year on year. Light colours work really well with a dark jean or trouser, and also with a faux fur gilet which are great when the weather is getting a bit more chilly. Embroidery and roses are massive this season so this piece from Miss Selfridge at ASOS will have you looking on trend in no time.

Tops

Adding texture to your tops with appliqué detail or embroidery makes them that little bit more interesting and can be a real fashion statement. Pussybow blouses are also great for Autumn either paired with an oversized blazer or underneath a knit. Who knew 70s style would be back on trend for millennials?

Bow Printed Shirt £25.99 at Mango

Embroidered Frill Shoulder Top £24.99 at New Look

Crystal Appliqué T-Shirt £17.99 at Mango

Bags

The dreamiest feather bag you ever did see… Need we say any more?

Coats/Jackets

It can be hard at this time of year because although it feels cold, it isn’t quite time for the full blown winter coat to be pulled out the back of your wardrobe. Lighter options like the trench coat are great because they can be worn open when the weather decides to be a bit kinder to us, but if you’re feeling the cold, add a big scarf and tie the belt round your waist. Faux fur lined aviator jackets are also a firm favourite with their oversized style.

Trousers/Skirts

It won’t be long before your morning commute is looking dark and miserable and you’ll need something other than a double shot cappuccino to brighten up your day. Well, a pop of colour is one way of doing so and coloured trousers could not be a better place to start. Wide leg trousers with a lace body is a chic evening look, and a skinny style for work with a plimsole is perfect. Forget wearing high shoes while you run from station to platform, sports luxe is well and truly in and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Oasis Side Stripe Trousers £38 at ASOS

Green High Waisted Trousers £25 at Pretty Little Thing

All Saints Metal Black Skirt £65 at John Lewis

For those of you who want to jazz up the classic black pencil skirt. Who said workwear had to be boring?

Shoes/Boots

Trainers were seen all across London Fashion Week street style and my goodness, we would love to personally thank the inventor of the trusty trainer. Nobody wants blisters or their heel falling down the drain while attempting to get the early train to work so you have time for coffee and breakfast (who ever made it anyway?) Embrace the lace(s) and buy yourself a trendy trainer.

But by the time Friday comes around and you’re ready to meet your bestie for many a 2-4-1 cocktails, you better put on your dancing shoes. Shoe boots are the perfect alternative to a strappy sandal which are definitely back in their box until next summer (unless you want wet feet…)

Kurt Geiger Dayna Stiletto Heeled Shoe Boots £199 at John Lewis
