“With summer starting to show its face many of us are frantically shopping for heat-friendly clothing and sifting through a million and one styles of skirts in the process. Give it ten minutes into the search and you’re probably wondering why you even started this quest for coolness in the leg department anyway. Long, short, A-Line, Straight, Denim, Linen … you get the picture, grabbing a quick skirt suddenly become not so easy after all.
I’ve picked two of my favorite skirts from ASOS to show you how I would style them for this season.
I picked a wrap skirt as nothing screams summer more than strolling in the sunshine with a beautifully elegant skirt flowing along with you. Not only this, wrap skirts work with all kinds of body shapes as they sit on the slimmest part of the waist and subtly accentuate your curves in all the right places.
I have styled this with a colour coordinating cami to elevate the look just a little, but if you wanted a more subtle look pair it with a simple tee and white trainers for a refreshing easy-to-wear outfit that most importantly looks cute and keeps you cool.
The tortoiseshell button-through style of this skirt really stood out to me as a huge trend this season as I’ve seen it cropping up everywhere. Linen is always such an inviting fabric in the summer and it makes me want to book a holiday too! It’s so weightless and light, a style ideal for an everyday Spring/Summer wardrobe, especially paired with one of this seasons must have basket bags.
The tie waist works best with something simple on top especially if that piece can be tucked in as you don’t want to have a top that cuts off at your waist creating a circle of fabric around you sitting on top of the skirt. This could be a cami, t-shirt, or bodysuit. I went for a classic stripe tee which is a great way of adding a bit more depth to the look without being over powering, and who doesn’t love stripes! A more subtle colour tie waist skirt could be a great way of bringing the trend into your summer work wear with a light blouse and sandals an outfit that could take you straight out of the office and onto drinks on a summer’s evening.
