Three Shoes You Need From Dune Right Now | Lydia Tomlinson

When it comes to footwear, we’re often left in a sartorial rut. Yes, there we go again returning to our age-old battered heels because well, they’re the easiest and most comfortable we own, of course!

‘Oh, they’ll do!’, we cry, after visiting shoe-hell and back in a last minute scramble to get an outfit together. Heading out, with shoes that have long lived past their sell-by date, we are defeated.

So, with the festive season just around the corner, it’s time we upped-the-anti on our shoe game and realise the importance a good pair of shoes can bring to the outfit. They’re often the pièce de résistance, the icing on top of the cake, and something that we often overlook because they’re the furthest thing away from our eyes so ‘it’s okay if they don’t really match’. Underestimating the power of a good shoe is something we’ve all fallen guilty of, but the time has come for us to ditch those ragged nude sandals and replace them with something worthy of the rest of your killer outfit… And what better time of year to do it than at the festive season?

With the help of your trusty CollectPlus Point, you can whizz by post-work just in time to slip into your Cinderella slippers and head off to the Christmas ball! There’s no frustrating little note through your door saying ‘will try again tomorrow’, and no awkward ‘thank you SO much…again!’ to your neighbours with the help of CollectPlus. Simply choose the most convenient location to you (there are over 7000 CollectPlus Points in the UK, and all open late, so you’re bound to find one close to you or your work!) and take your order away! So, now we know HOW we’re going to order our shoes, what about WHICH shoes we’re going to order…

Dune are our winter saviours this year, offering a range of seasonal shoes to take us right through to the New Year! In the run up to Christmas, I’ve selected some of my faves that you can style for all your different festive occasions!

Darncer – Black £85
First thing’s first, let us establish the importance of the mule. A major fashion trend over the past few years, mules aren’t going anywhere for A/W. The beauty of this shoe is that it can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Elegant, not too dressy and the epitome of chic, mules can be worn with ankle-grazing, straight-leg jeans (throw them on with a double-breasted black blazer and white shirt and you instantly have a fabulous day-to-night look! Add a pop of red lipstick and matching diamante earrings for those after work Christmas drinks!), or a pleated midi-skirt for more of an evening look. Versatile is what I’d call these shoes; with a bit of extra sparkle for this time of year!

Ozone – Black £150
Sock boots should be one of the first on your list of winter boots! The block heel of these means they’re extra comfortable if you’re lunching/Christmas shopping and the ankle length means they can easily be styled for day! Got those in-between occasions where sequinned dresses and stilettos just aren’t appropriate? Throw on the Ozone boots for a touch of glamour and to keep you nice and warm too! Style with leather trousers and an all-black look for a rock-n-roll edge or go all out with a mini skirt and tee (just don’t forget your coat!).

Brighte – Gold £85
If you don’t own a pair of pointy-toe court shoes then it’s about time you did! A traditional shoe that pretty much goes with every type of evening wear, these classic black courts with gold detail will be a go-to all winter long. Wear them with paperbag style trousers and sharp blazer to add femininity to an androgynous look, or go all-out Darcy Bussell in an elegant, knee-length dress for a glam Christmassy occasion!
Whatever occasion you have coming up, Dune will have you covered! And forget the stress of shopping and waiting in for delivery men, CollectPlus will ease your pre-Christmas jitters and have you waltzing all the way to the office Christmas party!
