Do you have an old coat at home that you don’t wear anymore or that is stuffed in the back of your wardrobe and never worn? CollectPlus is pleased to be supporting this great cause for the third year in a row giving everyone in the UK a chance to donate, wherever they are.
Free up space and do a good deed at the same time by donating your coat to someone in need. For the 7th year running Wrap Up London, a charity initiative run by Hands on London will be rounding up unwanted coats and then distributing them to a variety of homeless, elderly and refugee causes across London.
The number of people in the UK living in crisis is on the rise especially the young and homeless and with colder temperatures closing in many of these people are exposed to the elements. The simple donation of a spare or unwanted coat not only help keep a person warm, it can help save their life.
Wrap up London 2016 proved hugely successful and this year they expect to receive 22,000 warm, waterproof and durable coats via donation points across the city. In previous years the majority of donations were women’s coats, so if you have a father, brother, husband, boyfriend or son with a spare or unwanted coat then go ahead and take them down to a collection point or donate at a local CollectPlus point.
How to donate?
CollectPlus will be supporting the campaign by providing delivery labels so you can send your donated coat from 6,500 locations across the UK. Send your donations to Wrap up Manchester, Wrap up Birmingham or Wrap up London by using a CollectPlus label.
First of all, go to our website to download a label and take care to attach it to your parcel. Collectplus has donated 250 free labels, each label allows you to send up to 10kg of coats so make sure you ask friends and family to donate and bundle them together.
Once you’ve packaged up your coats, take them down to a local CollectPlus store and we’ll make sure they get to Wrap Up London. Take a look at our packaging guidelines to ensure your donation is delivered safely and intact.
Last year we went along with Kristabel of IWantYouToKnow to find out more about how Wrap Up London help keep vulnerable people warm in winter.
