Wrap Up London: give your old coat a new life with CollectPlus

Got an old coat you no longer wear and need to clear some space? Wrap Up London, the charity campaign that aims to keep the capital’s homeless and disadvantaged warm this winter, is back and bigger than ever. And we’re here to help you donate to this fantastic cause wherever you’re based in the UK.

Now in its sixth year, Wrap Up London – brought to us by Hands on London – is looking to collect 15,000 unwanted, used and old coats from members of the public to give to those most likely to struggle to keep warm during the winter months. Once again you can donate coats at your local CollectPlus store, or at any store in our 5,800-strong network.

How to donate to Wrap Up London with CollectPlus

Donating to Wrap Up London using CollectPlus is easy – and if you’re among the first 250 customers to do so, it’s also completely free of charge. Here’s what you need to do to get involved:

  2. Package up the coat(s) you want to donate, up to 10kg.
  3. Stick the label securely on to your package.
  4. Take your package into any one of our 6,000 stores and hand it to the storekeeper.
  5. Your coats will be delivered to Wrap Up London.

Coats will be distributed at homeless shelters, refugee centres, elderly organisations, women’s refuges, children’s centres and other charities.

Speaking about the campaign, Jon Meech Hands On London CEO said;

“Most of us have an old coat at the back of our wardrobe that we no longer want or need. Often it’s gathering dust, and we don’t know what to do with it. That’s where Wrap Up London comes in handy.

More than 8,000 people have slept rough on London’s streets throughout 2015 and 2016, and many thousands more continue to live in crisis. This is a trend that doesn’t look like it’s going to reverse any time soon. The winter months can be the toughest for vulnerable people across the city, but it doesn’t have to be this way.”

If you’ve got a coat that will otherwise be sitting unused in your wardrobe, now is the time to take action: let’s make this the biggest and most successful Wrap Up London ever!
