Online retailer Littlewoodsireland.ie offers a free returns service to customers for the first time
CollectPlus, the UK’s largest store-based parcel delivery and returns service, has teamed up with Parcel Motel to give Irish online shoppers an easy and convenient way to return unwanted items back to UK retailers. Littlewoodsireland.ie, which is part of Shop Direct and has a UK-based fulfilment operation, is the first Irish retailer to offer this service to its customers.
Since launching in July last year by the Republic of Ireland’s largest independent delivery firm, the Nightline Group, the Parcel Motel network of locker terminals has attracted tens of thousands of subscribers eager to obtain fast, convenient and cheaper delivery of goods bought via the internet.
From this month, Littlewoodsireland.ie customers can return unwanted items to the retailer’s returns centre in the UK by dropping off them off at their nearest Parcel Motel locker.
Once registered on the Parcel Motel website, Littlewoodsireland.ie customers can book a locker slot and attach the CollectPlus label to their package, which is provided when their item is shipped to them. With over 100 locker locations throughout the country, Parcel Motel will transfer the parcels to CollectPlus in the UK for delivery back to the Littlewoodsireland.ie returns centre. Customers will receive a returns code and will be able to track the journey of their item on the CollectPlus website.
Neil Ashworth, CEO of CollectPlus, said: “Our partnership with Parcel Motel allows UK retailers with operations in the Republic of Ireland the ability to offer their customers a great way to return goods simply and easily. It requires no extra effort on the retailer’s part as the CollectPlus label that they ordinarily provide in the outbound parcel can be used by the customer to return their unwanted items. This new international returns service is something that we intend to offer to all our UK clients who trade in the Irish Republic as it is flexible enough to accommodate any returns strategy.”
John Tuohy, CEO of the Nightline Group, said the partnership with CollectPlus has reinforced the convenience of Parcel Motel for the Republic of Ireland’s fast-growing number of online shoppers: “The handling of returns is an essential part of the e-commerce process. Previously, though, consumers will have had to take items to their local post office. However, this new system is simpler and, if anything, makes the business of buying online even easier than before. I’m confident that it will prove enormously popular – not only with existing Parcel Motel subscribers but also with those shoppers who really value convenience.”
Geoff Scully, managing director at Littlewoodsireland.ie, said: ““We’re delighted to offer our customers a more convenient and cost-effective way to return any unwanted purchases by working with CollectPlus and Parcel Motel. As a retailer with a rapidly growing customer base, we strive to find ways to continually improve the customer experience and this partnership does exactly that.”
