ASDA partners with CollectPlus


Customers can buy George and Asda Direct items online and collect and return them at more than 5,000 convenience stores and petrol stations Asda is the first major retailer to include next day delivery to CollectPlus scheme.

As Asda CEO Andy Clarke spoke at today’s Retail Week Live, Asda revealed it is seeing strong growth week-on-week with its next day CollectPlus service. The new service allows customers to order fashion and non-food items online and pick them up from one of more than 5,000 locations the next day, for just £4.50.

CollectPlus extends Asda’s existing Click & Collect service, available for general merchandise products in all 566 Asda stores and currently for grocery in 86 (200 by the end of 2013) stores. Asda’s CollectPlus service means items are delivered to local convenience stores, such as Costcutter and Londis, as well as more than 450 petrol stations, for customers to pick up at their leisure, removing the hassle of staying at home to receive deliveries or making a special trip to an Asda store.

Jon Wragg, head of online shopping at Asda said, “Our job is to continuously find new ways to save our customers time and money. This new service offers Asda customers 5,000 more pick up points so they can collect their shopping while they’re out and about without having to wait at home or make a special journey. While it’s early days, the service is already growing by about 50% week-on-week, which just goes to show how much our customers value truely convenient shopping”.

Steven Hall, returns manager at Asda Direct says; “Getting the returns process right is just as important as getting the delivery spot on. It’s essential that our customers are confident when they make an online purchase from Asda. If the item isn’t right they can return it without any cost or hassle for them. We have been working with CollectPlus for 18 months so our Asda Direct and George customers can return their orders at over 5,000 local stores free of charge.”
